3 Unpopular Truths About Hitting a Draw (That Nobody Tells You)

Everyone thinks they know how to hit a draw.
But most of what’s being preached out there?
It’s the same recycled nonsense that keeps golfers stuck.

Here’s what I’ve learned after paying closer attention than most:

1. “Roll your hands over” is a trap.
That’s how you hook it into the next fairway.
A real draw is built from body sequencing and path—not a last-second wrist flip.

2. Ball position is the hidden lever.
Forget obsessing about slamming the face shut.
Where you place the ball in your stance quietly decides whether the club can work from the inside.

3. Chasing distance ruins consistency.
Instagram highlights show monster draws adding 20 yards…
but the best draw hitters obsess over one thing only:
repetition.
Same shape, same start line, again and again.

These aren’t the sexy tips you hear on the range…
but they’re the difference between faking it once in a while—
and owning a reliable draw you can actually trust under pressure.
